'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' - John 3 vs 16

What is Eternal Life? It means an unending life. Now note this, this is very important so note it: Not everybody walking on the surface of the earth have life. That a man exists on the earth doesn't mean he or she has life. Yes. Let's see this:

'He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.' - 1 John 5 vs 12 {KJV}

Please follow me because I want to say something sensitive, and if you are not attentive you may not see it. Before salvation in Christ Jesus appeared unto all men, there was no man on the face of the earth that had life. I emphatically say that if the life in a man is not Eternal Life (which God gives when a man believes in Christ), then such man has no life. Now this comes against the knowledge of science, because according to science, man has life, but I tell you, scientists don't know what life is. They think life is when a creature actively exists on the earth then it is said to have life, and when it fades off from the earth, then it is dead; they missed it there. Because a creature can exist on the face of the earth and be dead, it doesn't have to be cut off (die) from the surface of the earth before it is dead. No! I'm sharing with you Spiritual Wisdom. Science and its lovers will definitely not agree to this. Therefore, if it is life, then you're talking about eternal life. That's why hell is called the land of the dead. Someone may say "but they are alive even though they are condemned", O no! Get this. What is death? death is simply a non-connection to God. That's why the Bible says in Ephesians 2 vs 5, 'Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)...'. You see that? So death is simply the wages of sin which results in a disconnection from God. What is Life? Life is simply JESUS. So in the same way sin imparts death, likewise Jesus who is our righteousness imparts Life. So anyone who has the Son (Jesus) as the Word has said, has Life. You see?... And anyone who doesn't have the Son (Jesus) doesn't have life. In other words, such a person is dead. It's simple. You see... Yea.

'And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.' - 1 John 5 vs 11 - 12 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Now! Now that we (who have believed) have received Life, it's important to know that that Life is for eternity. In other words, our connection to God our Father is for eternity. Now many folks think that they are gonna inherit Eternal Life when they get to Heaven. O no! Get this: Anyone who
believes in Jesus receives Life, Eternal Life. Does he have life now? Yes. That means, that's what he's living presently. That means Eternal Life starts the moment a man believes in Jesus. Look at this, let's see something:

'For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named...' - Ephesians 3 vs 14 - 15 {KJV}

Now notice this, the Apostle makes mention here of the family of God our Father. Did you observe that he did not say 'of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth are named...'? But the Apostle made use of the word 'is', letting us know that it's one family, but some are in Heaven, and some are on earth, and they all are living Eternal Life. So when we leave the earth, we don't begin to live Eternal Life, no, we continue the Eternal Life we already began living on earth. You see... It's blessed just to think about. Let me tell you of an Heavenly thing: Do you know that when we get to Heaven, the Life there will not look new? O yes. No Believer ever gets surprised that he got into Heaven or that he made it to Heaven (as they say). You know why? Eternal Life is already at work in him right from earth, his spirit is used to it already. Hallelujah!

God bless you.
