THE GOD OF JACOB

'Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob...' - Exodus 3 vs 6

Greetings to you dearly beloved of God in Christ Jesus. This short piece is to show you that God still identifies with you no matter how weak and dirty you appear before your eyes. Be blessed. Amen.

The word Jacob is translated in the Hebrew as Ya'aqov, which means 'a supplanter', one that overthrows, one that dethrones violently (cunningly, crookedly). Now, as you know, the man Jacob lived non-uprightly at a point in his human existence; he got what he wanted in ways not acceptable to God, he was cunning. You can read about him in the Bible for yourself. Now, in our above Bible passage, we see God introducing Himself to Moses as the God of Jacob. A time came, when God changed Jacob's name to Israel, which means 'Ruler' (He will rule as God). Now notice, God didn't say, I am the God of Israel, no, but the God of Jacob. - Selah

This reveals a character of God. God is not ashamed to identify with weak people. He is not ashamed to identify with His children who miss the mark. You may say, Pastor Jenning, my past is ugly, and I feel miserable about it. But I say to you, He is the God of Jacob. Jacob was changed to Israel. So, Jacob speaks of the past of Israel. As miserable as that past looked, God still identified with it, the God of Jacob!

No matter how miserable your past might have been, He's still your God, strengthening you, not ashamed to identify with you, not ashamed to call you His son, not ashamed to call you His daughter, not ashamed to call you His own; always ministering Hope and Strength to your heart like He's doing right now. Hallelujah!

God has blessed you.
