SUCH AS I HAVE - PT. 2

'Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.' - Matthew 17 vs 21

Now, in the first part of this topic, we saw and learnt that the Believer in CHRIST has been given authority by the LORD JESUS over sicknesses and diseases and infirmities and over all devils and death. Yes. In this teaching right now, we are going to be moving even higher in revelation and understanding of this matter. There's such a thing as increasing in authority in CHRIST. Now let's look at that.

Our opening Bible verse is the story of how a man brought His child to the Disciples of the LORD in HIS absence, for them to deliver him from an evil spirit which troubled him, but they could not.😔 Recall that these guys had already received authority from the LORD to work miracles, to heal the sick, to cast out devils and to raise the dead;

'Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.' - Matthew 10 vs 8 {KJV}

Here in the Chapter 10, they received Authority from the LORD, and there in the Chapter 17, they were confronted with a situation which they had been given authority over, they exercised that authority over the situation, but it didn't work. What could have been the reason for this? That brings us to a spiritual understanding, that there's such a thing as having more authority in CHRIST.

We are getting to understand that CHRIST did not give to us the absolute authority there is. No! He gave to us authority in a measure, and left it to us to decide how much more authority we will walk in on the earth. - Selah

Don't rush to continue reading, take a moment and meditate on what I said above.

They came to the LORD privately, and asked HIM,

'Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.' - Matthew 17 vs 19 - 21 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Did you see that the LORD first said to them, because of unbelief. That clearly explains to us that what it takes to cast out devils is Faith in the words of CHRIST. Faith/Confidence in HIS words that we would do what HE did and greater. By implication, it means that what is required to work the miraculous is Faith in the authority that CHRIST has given to us. - Selah. Nevertheless, the LORD raised the bar, and went on to tell them why they actually could not cast out that devil, and HE said,

'Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.' - Matthew 17 vs 21 {KJV}

Meaning, even though you guys had faith enough, you don't have the required authority to send this kind of devil out. And the LORD showed us how we can increase in supernatural authority, and HE said, "by prayer and fasting". - Selah

The word "Howbeit" as used in that verse, is the word "Although". Which means, the LORD was saying to them, even though you had the required Faith, nevertheless, you didn't have the sufficient authority to cast out that kind of devil.

You see that?

Dearly Beloved, there are classes of the miraculous and supernatural manifestations you will never access without a life of consistent praying and fasting. Yes, you might order out little devils, and mild sicknesses, even the Apostles had such testimony. Let's look at it;

'And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.' - Luke 10 vs 17 {KJV}

You see, the Apostles casted out certain classes of devils, and they were excited about it, they told the LORD about it. But here, they couldn't cast out this particular devil, and the LORD made them to understand that this particular devil that they couldn't cast out, was a kind of devil,

'Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.' - Matthew 17 vs 21 {KJV}

You see... The LORD said, "this kind". That clearly tells us that all devils are not in the same category. In the demonic, there are ranks and kinds. And the LORD said to the Disciples, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Meaning, you will require a greater authority than what you have now to be able to command this kind of devil.

The same goes with sickness and diseases. Every sickness and disease require different classes of authority to command them. This is the reason why you might command headaches to leave someone and it goes, but cancer may not obey you, because you don't possess the required authority that commands cancer. - Think about it

Therefore dearly beloved, do you desire to indeed do greater works as the LORD has promised in HIS Word? Get a fasting life! Give yourself consistently to Praying mixed with Fasting. This is a different ball game, I tell you.

As you have now learnt and are enlightened, go and do likewise.
