BARABBAS

'Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?' - Matthew 27 vs 17

Hello Dearly Beloved in the LORD JESUS. This is an interesting and educative subject of discussion we have here right now. Be Blessed in reading. AMEN.

The title of this teaching says, Barabbas! Waow! You know, Barabbas was a Man who lived in the days when the LORD walked the face of the Earth. The Bible gives us some descriptions of Barabbas' personality. Let's see;

'And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.' - Matthew 27 vs 16 {KJV}

A notable prisoner! He was a notable prisoner. Not just a prisoner, but a notable prisoner. Meaning his crime was of gravity, weighty.

'Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.' - John 18 vs 40 {KJV}

A robber! Barabbas was a robber.

'And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.' - Mark 15 vs 7 {KJV}

He made an insurrection (riot) in the Nation, he committed murder in the riot (insurrection). Okay, according to some research, Barabbas was said to have led a revolt against the government that then was, for the independence of Israel.

This was the man Barabbas, so unworthy of the LORD, so unworthy of what He got;

'And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas...' - Luke 23 vs 18 {KJV}

A prisoner, a murderer, a rebel, a robber, was preferred to the Holy SON OF GOD from Heaven. Uhmmm

'Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be cruicified.' - Matthew 27 vs 26 {KJV}

Unbelievably, unimaginably, Barabbas was released in the place of JESUS. Isn't it amazing how the story of Barabbas reflects the Grace of GOD in CHRIST JESUS?.

'For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.' - 2 Corinthians 5 vs 21 {KJV}

Glory to GOD. JESUS was made the sin offering for us. HE took our place so we can take HIS Place Eternally. And you know what?, HE defeated death, HE defeated the grave, HE defeated hell, and HE rose up Victoriously on the third day. Hallelujah! It's amazing how the pre-death periods of JESUS already began to signify the realities of HIS death. Amazing! Let's take another scene about that same period of the LORD'S Crucifixion;

'And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.' - Luke 23 vs 12 {KJV}

This is reconciliation. Two were reconciled together in the pre-death periods. Amazing. So much significations took place on that day before the SAVIOUR'S Death, signifying that Reconciliation was about to be accomplished by the SAVIOUR'S Death;

'And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation...' - 2 Corinthians 5 vs 18 {KJV}

Amazing. We were reconciled to GOD by JESUS CHRIST. Because of this same JESUS, Pilate and Herod were made friends, they reconciled their friendship, for before, they were enemies even as we were once enemies of GOD {Romans 5 vs 10}, but have been reconciled to GOD by JESUS CHRIST. Hallelujah! The two (2) major things HIS Death, Burial and Resurrection would bring about which are Justification and Reconciliation, were signified to the world before HE died. Glorious! Wonderful. GOD is Praised forever. AMEN.

So, a release He (Barabbas) did not deserve, a Liberty He did not deserve, a Hope He did not deserve, a Peace He didn't deserve, He got! We got! Because of JESUS. Glory to GOD.

Therefore go ahead today in the Joy of Salvation, for the KING has rescued you and has given to you an Everlasting Salvation which you could never attain by yourself. HE gave it by HIS Death and Resurrection. Rejoice!

GOD is with you.
