UNDERSTANDING PSALMS 119 VS 11

'Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.' - Psalms 119 vs 11

Hello Dearly Beloved in CHRIST. Be Blessed as you read in JESUS Name. AMEN.

Our opening scripture is one portion of the Bible that many have used out of context to teach the Believer how to live above sin. As good as their sermon might sound doesn't make their use of that passage right. Now, one thing we must get right about Bible interpretation is this, when
interpreting Bible meaning, you must take note of the dispensation that the statement made was given. Was the statement made in the dispensation of the Law? Was the statement made in the dispensation of Grace?. It's very important. Because, to tell a Believer to stock His Heart with the Word so He might not go against GOD is subjecting Him to bondage. GOD forbid.

Now David was a man of practical mistakes, yet He loved GOD so much that GOD said of Him that He was a man after HIS Heart. But you must realize that David lived in the days of the Law. In context, Psalms 119 vs 11 states; 'Thy Law (Word) have I hid in my Heart, that I might not sin
against thee.' You see?. Because it was a custom in Israel in those days to paste the Laws of GOD which was GOD'S Word to them then, on the walls of their houses and on their gates, so that their eyes will always be on the Law to keep them from sinning. See Deuteronomy 6 vs 9;

'And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.' - {KJV}

Now David speaking from this stand point is saying, I will not only write them upon the posts of my house and on my gates, but I will hide them in my heart as well..... All for the same purpose, that Israel may not sin against HIM.

But what do we say about the Believer? Let's see Ephesians 1 vs 17 - 18;

'17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints...' - {KING JAMES VERSION}

The Believer does not go for the knowledge of the Law, the Believer goes for the knowledge of HIS Grace, not for the purpose of not sinning against GOD as it was for them in the dispensation of the Law, but that we may know the hope of HIS calling, that is, that we may know how saved we are, that we may have full assurance of HIS Salvation, that we may know the Inheritance we came into in CHRIST. So I stuck my Heart with the Knowledge of HIS Grace which produces Joy in my life knowing I will never go to hell, knowing that HE will never leave me nor forsake me, knowing that GOD is in Love with me. Now listen, that Joy is what orders my life into HIS will, the Joy of Salvation causes my life to align with HIS Righteousness. This was what they of the Law didn't enjoy, they were busy about not sinning against GOD all by their strength, but we, we are busy enjoying the Joy of the LORD which by Itself (Not of ourselves) orders our lives. You see the difference?. Little wonder Romans 3 vs 31 says,  '...we establish the law.' You see? The Law (which is Righteousness) which could not be established in their conducts by their efforts, is been established in us by the workings of Grace. You see, we didn't plan to be nice, we found out we became nice. - Selah. We didn't plan to be gentle, we found out we are now gentle. - Selah. We didn't plan to refute immorality, but we realized that we are practically living above immorality, unawares to us! We didn't struggle to Live that life, we don't struggle to live it, that's the out workings of Grace. What they could not be, we have become in CHRIST. It starts by first receiving HIS free gift of Righteousness by Believing HIS Righteousness is your qualification before GOD, not your own righteousness, not your own discipline, not your own principles, but HIS Righteousness.

GOD Bless You.
