PURPOSE FOR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

'Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.' - John 1 vs 50

Ladies and gentle men, this is a very important topic I am talking about today, as the Lord Himself has led me to talk on this and publish it to the whole world. In our churches today, the purpose of spiritual gifts has been greatly misunderstood and hence abused. A wise man once said, "When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable."

From our opening scripture, we see the case of Jesus manifesting the gift of knowledge to a man called Nathaniel, Jesus was able to tell him his location accurately by the Spirit of God, and Nathaniel was greatly amazed.

Now, I love to bring to us, what the manifestation of that gift by Jesus led to in the life of that man Nathaniel.  After the revelation to Nathaniel, the Bible records that Nathaniel believed in Jesus, and that is the exact purpose for spiritual gifts, for men to believe that Jesus is the son of the living God.   But what is the case today? Many are working miracles in the name of Jesus, only to their selfish gain.  For some, they do it for self exaltation, yet God's still watching from Heaven.

My dear brother and sister, do you know that the power of God was giving to us as a tool for witnessing Jesus? Let's see that in the book of Acts 1 vs 8,

'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.' {KJV}

Did you see that? Did you hear what the Master said? He tells us from this passage, that power was given us to be witnesses of His resurrection, effective witnesses at that. That's why we are told in 1 Corinthians 4 vs 20, that the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. So we were given power, so that we can effectively prove that Jesus is alive and not dead in the grave. Nobody wants to believe what is not true, or what cannot be proven. That's why He gave us His power, so we can prove Him, and hence win much souls to Him.   Is this the case of most churches today? - Selah   Let us take a look at John 4 vs 16 - 19,

'16, He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back." 17, "I have no husband," she replied. Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband. 18, The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true."

Please, I want you to take an observation of what the woman said in the next verse, 19,

"Sir," the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet.' {KING JAMES VERSION}

Did you see that? As a result of that revelation gift, the woman's heart was already ready to receive His words. And that's the purpose for spiritual gifts, to make ready the hearts of people to receive the words of salvation.   From John 4 vs 39 - 42, we see that many Samaritans believed on Him because of that display of power.   You can go on and on to read about the miracles of Jesus, they all lead to the salvation of souls, and that's what spiritual gifts are for. If you ever find people exalting a Man of God as a result of the power displayed through him rather than thanking the Lord and singing His praise, just know that is a clear Indication of error and swaying away.

My dear friend, let he that thinks he stands take heed lest he falls. Let everything you do for the Lord bring praise and souls to the Him.   God Bless You.
