AN EXPOSITION ON ROMANS 6 VS 14 [SIN SHALL HAVE NO DOMINION OVER YOU]

'For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.' - Romans 6 vs 14

Hello dearly beloved in CHRIST, be blessed and lifted as you read this word of the grace of GOD. AMEN.

Let's examine our opening Bible Passage;

'For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.' - Romans 6 vs 14

It says that sin shall not have dominion over us, and the reason is given, which is because we are not under the law, but under the Grace of GOD. By implication of that statement, it means that sin has dominion over all they that are under the law. Now, what does it mean for sin to have dominion over someone?, let's see Romans 7 vs 9;

'Once I was alive, but quite apart from and unconscious of the Law. But when the commandment came, sin lived again and I died (was sentenced by the Law to death).' - {KJV}

This portion of the Epistle makes us aware that the Law has sentencing power, the Law is what gives strength to sin, the Law is what makes sin sin, the Law is what gives power dominion and authority to sin; without the Law (which gives punishment and judgement for sin), sin in itself cannot judge, condemn, or convict. - Selah

'The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.' - 1 Corinthians 15 vs 56 {KJV}

For example, in certain nations of this world, their laws permit anyone above the age of 18 to have personal guns, but in Nigeria, if you are caught with a fire arm simply because you are 18 or above, it's a criminal offence. Why is it a criminal offence in Nigeria? because Nigeria has no such Laws as other nations have it. You see? what is not a crime in nation A, is a crime in Nation B; the same acts, but different judgements because of the absence of law in one nation and presence of law in the other. So we see that it is the Law that brings about the knowledge of sin {Romans 3 vs 20}, and when the Law is broken, then sin gains dominion over that person because judgement is now going to be passed on that person. So we can conclude that judgement is the dominion sin has over an individual, and that judgement is passed by the Law. That's why the Bible tells us that the strength of sin is the Law. In other words, sin is a lifeless thing without the Law. - Selah

The Apostle Paul called sin a lifeless thing without the Law;

'But sin, finding opportunity in the commandment [to express itself], got a hold on me and aroused and stimulated all kinds of forbidden desires (lust, covetousness). For without the Law sin is dead [the sense of it is inactive and a lifeless thing].' - Romans 7 vs 8 {AMPLIFIED BIBLE TRANSLATION}

You see that? yea. Without the Law (which gives judgement), sin is a lifeless thing, it is inactive to the senses. It is the Law that makes sin powerful and hold dominion over a man, by the judgement of the Law, sin becomes loud. But see this;

for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

It says that we are under Grace. Hallelujah! Now under Grace, the judgements of the Law are replaced by GOD's Justification over any man that Believes (holds on to, rely on, cling to, Trust in) in HIS Son JESUS. Now see this;

'Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.' - Romans 8 vs 33 {KJV}

Notice the terms used here, it didn't say "who shall lay some things to the charge of God's elect", but it says "who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect". This reveals to us that there is nothing called sin that GOD has not justified the Believer of. To justify someone means to declare that person not guilty. Glory to GOD, GOD has declared the Believer "not guilty" from all things that can ever be called sin, transgression or iniquity. AMEN. Hallelujah! By this Revelation, it means that one who is in CHRIST can never be said to have sinned; not before GOD. - Selah. And if it be that He sins not (not by His works, but by the Free Justification of GOD in CHRIST JESUS), then it is obvious that there's no judgement on His path. Hence, sin has lost it's power and dominion over Him; seeing that the dominion and power of sin is the judgement the Law declares. - Selah.

Dearly beloved, seeing that the effect of sin, which is the enforcement of the Law's judgement cannot take a hold of the Believer seeing He sins not (not by His works, but by the Free Justification of GOD in CHRIST JESUS), then Glory to GOD, sin has lost its dominion over Him, sin has lost its dominion over us. Hallelujah!
