ONE THING TO NOTE WHEN WE PARTAKE OF THE BREAD
"And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them." - Luke 24 vs 30
Hello Dearly Beloved in the LORD JESUS. I Trust that this teaching will become your experience in your walk of Faith. AMEN. Be Blessed.
Our opening passage is drawn from an event that occurred upon the resurrection of our Blessed and Precious LORD and SAVIOR JESUS. Let's see that chapter from the verse 13 up till verse 31;
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
{KING JAMES VERSION}
If you read the entire passages, you will notice that JESUS was the one with them, yet they knew HIM not. Uhmmmm. This brings to my mind how much the CHURCH of JESUS CHRIST on Earth so need to have a Revelation of that Wonderful name, "JESUS". - Selah. But something happened in the verse 30, we see how that the LORD JESUS took bread, blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to them. Immediately that happened, immediately they took it, that is the bread, their eyes were opened. Hallelujah!, and they knew HIM. Waowww. This tells us something Powerful; Revelation of the LORD JESUS is tied to partaking of HIS Body in the Bread which we take. The partaking of the Bread sprung forth a reaction. It wasn't as though it was because the LORD wanted them to know HIM at the breaking/partaking of the Bread, no! Their knowing HIM was a Divine spontaneous reaction to their partaking of the Bread. So, as we partake of the LORD'S table, in breaking Bread and partaking of it, our eyes are opened more and more, more and more in knowing HIM, we even grow deeper in the knowledge of the SON, JESUS. Glory to GOD.
Let's observe verse 25, 26 and 27;
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Notice what it says, the LORD expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning HIMSELF. That means, they were ignorant of the Scriptures, Light of the Scriptures had not entered into their Hearts as at that time. But the moment they partook of that Bread, their eyes were opened, and they knew HIM. That knowledge of HIM wasn't just their physical recognition of HIM alone, no, but every dot of Scriptures were connected in their Hearts. Suddenly the Scriptures dawned on them; all the Words of the Prophets concerning the Messiah how HE will come, die, be buried and resurrect after three (3) days dawned in their Hearts. Oooo, they knew HIM. Hallelujah! Glory to GOD. This unveils to us that as we partake of the Bread, the eyes of our understanding is enlightened with Light to know the Scriptures; seeing that the Scriptures is all about JESUS, our eyes become opened to know JESUS as we look into the Scriptures, our understanding of HIS Grace and all HIS Works which HE wrought for us becomes unveiled in our Hearts more and more, deeper and deeper, brighter and brighter. Hallelujah! Waowwww.
So Dearly Beloved, have this consciousness from this moment henceforth that when you break Bread, when you partake of the LORD'S table in the breaking of Bread and partaking thereof, the eyes of your understanding is enlightened more and more in the Knowledge {Revelation - epignosis} of JESUS from the written Word as you meditate upon it and give yourself to the Word. "Ephesians 1 vs 18"
GOD Bless You.
